Holiday Intentions

A way out of the shackles that bound my poor soul.

A way to bind up the wounds, make this heart of mine whole.

A way to the treasures of a heavenly home.

A way in a Manger for me.

I'm so, so thankful for the Way.

You've probably wondered if I have given up on this blog entirely! The answer is no. Although it has not worked out to do anything for it for some time while we went through some extremely difficult life lessons. It was hard for me to say no to some of these things during that time, but I believe we're through the worst now...

I'm pretty excited about this season! There are many projects, recipes, and decor ideas I'd love to try, but realistically I likely won't do all of them. Here I'll list a few that I've done or are especially important to me and perhaps you'll find a little joy in them too!

  • Make wreaths. My mother in law says grape vines twist together beautifully for a base. I want to make mine as natural as possible using "California" stuff like magnolia leaves, eucalyptus, pomegranates, etc.

  • Campfire Lattes! Mmm. My husband made me one again this morning before he left for work. It's a signature drink they offer seasonally at a local coffee shop. We asked them how they did it, and now we can do it at home! We use a MokaPot for our espresso, but if you have a machine, yay for you! So you make your latte, sweetened with maple syrup or brown sugar, then sprinkle a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper on top, then take a kitchen torch and scorch the surface of the drink. The toasted spices smell amazing, and it tastes incredible.

  • Gingerbread houses. I'm going to set up a little event for next week, so locals, take a look. I'd love to have a few come join in the fun!

  • Read a book. This might seem kinda lame to some, but I love the idea of sitting by cozy fire reading aloud to whomever will listen. I started "The Chronicles of Narnia" last night to my husband. I've always wanted to read that series and never have.

  • Go on walks. Whatever the weather. Maybe that's impractical, but for myself I am a much happier productive human if I get out in the morning. (So don't ask me why I can very quickly fall out of the habit. Sigh.)

Now I'd love it if you'd leave a comment about your intentional holiday inspiration.

Peace to you all. 💫
